At Tiverton Academy, we strongly believe that online safety should not only be taught as part of our RSHE curriculum but it should be embedded throughout our daily practice. Whenever technology is being used in school, teachers set clear boundaries and reinforce the expectations for safe online practice ensuring that all children are able to make the most of this valuable resource. Through targeted, age-appropriate discussions and activities children are taught to become responsible and respectful digital citizens, who also know how to keep themselves safe online and what to do if they encounter something which makes them feel uncomfortable.
When working on school linked devices, all children are protected by our school filtering systems and Lightspeed technology which is monitored by Mrs Dunn. We also take a proactive approach to issues arising from children's technology use at home and will support parents in ensuring that their children continue to make safe online choices when using devices out of school.
We use parts of this site in school with the children, but it also contains very helpful resources for families.
This site contains lots of great information to support families with children's online safety.
